Animal abuse takes many forms. Whether it's a sadistic juvenile abusing one dog, or the institutionalized abuse of thousands of animals on factory farms, we must do what we can to stop the cruelty.

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." --Albert Einstein

Factory Farming

Life on "Old MacDonald's Farm" isn't what it used to be.  Factory farm abuse is the most prevalent and egregious forms of cruelty in the world.  Treated as mere objects, 10 billion land animals face daily torture, neglect, illness and pain, with a finale of inhumane and incompetent slaughter.

Animal Experiments

Every year millions of animals are shocked, blinded, mutilated, poisoned, and dissected in laboratories across the country. Dogs, cats, mice, rats, and primates are all victims of horrific experiments that ultimately cost them their lives.

Companion Animals

Population Crises:

The truth hurts. This puppy is one of thousands being euthanized every day because of the tragedy of overpopulation.  There are simply not enough homes.  The key to solving the overpopulation crisis is preventing litters.  Please spay/neuter your animals and spread the word.  If you are adding a pet to your family, please adopt from a shelter or rescue group.  Never buy from pet stores or breeder, they relentlessly add to the crisis.

(SPOT) Stop Pet Population Together Tampa Bay

(ACT) Animal Coalition of Tampa offers Spay Day of feral cats on the 2nd Sunday of each month.  If you capture feral cats to spay/neuter or would like to volunteer, contact info@actampa.com or 813-818-9381.  Find a LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER GROUP NEAR YOU

Puppy Mills

Companions bought at pet stores come from puppy mills.  These are factories that produce pure bred animals and in large numbers.  The laundry list of problems with this include: overbreeding, inbreeding, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of human socialization, overcrowded cages and the killing of unwanted animals.

By purchasing a companion at a pet store, you're contributing to this ring of cruelty.

It's imperative that these entities be stopped at the source: we must eliminate demand.

If you're looking for a specific age or breed as a companion, look no further!  Shelters and rescue groups are busting at the seams with purebreds, mutts, all ages and personality types!

Animals For Entertainment

Animals used for entertainment are subjected to rigorous and abusive training methods to force them to perform stressful, confusing, uncomfortable, and even painful acts; training methods can include beatings, the use of electric prods, food deprivation, drugging, and surgically removing or impairing

The Fur Industry

The fur ads we see in magazines and commercials portray fur coats as a symbol of elegance. But these ads fail to show how the original owners of these coats met their gruesome deaths.

Wildlife

As if habitat loss and pollution weren’t enough, we’re hunting and trapping them, too.  We call them a “nuisance” and try to “manage” them to benefit the whole.  Well, FVA’s keeping a watchful eye on these issues, exploitation scenarios and monitoring all sanctuaries/refuges in the state.
